Alexis and Oliver were married at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse. They had a traditional Filipino Catholic wedding ceremony. I love when we get the opportunity to learn about customs and see strong family traditions and symbolism incorporated into such an important day!
Alexis’s use of vibrant pinks and greens, along with chair covers and crisp linens really transformed Admiral Baker. She used bright green apples as placecard holders on the guest tables. Even the centerpieces, by Adina, tied in the bright colors with the use of fresh green apples and limes. Edelweiss Bakery perfectly decorated the cake using the same bright, beautiful color combination.
Check out some of the absolutely gorgeous shots captured by their talented photographer, David Champagne.

Jessica and C.J. are an incredibly sweet and caring couple. Their wedding was one of those in which friends, family and even strangers walking by on Mission Bay could feel the love they have for each other. This day was another wonderful reminder of why I absolutely love my job!
The ceremony and reception were held at The Dana on Mission Bay. The ceremony outside on the lawn right on the bay, and the reception in the ballroom with floor to ceiling windows. In lieu of a traditional cake, Jess and C.J. treated their guests to a chocolate fountain, a candy buffet and a photo booth from Photo Booth Pro complete with feather boas, funky glasses and hats. They used photo taken in the photo booth to compile their fun guestbook. Jen and I even had the opportunity to check out the booth!

Congratulations to C.J. who graduated from medical school the week before their wedding, and matched at USC for his residency! Thanks for letting us be a part of your day.

We could not have ordered a more perfect batch of weather for Debbie and Johnny’s sand based beach ceremony. Many guests kicked off their heels and opted for the flip flops provided upon arrival at the ceremony at La Jolla Shores. After making it official, guests were invited up to La Jolla Shores Hotel’s patio overlooking the beach for cocktails and appetizers. They were greeted by beautiful white calla lily and bamboo arrangements created by the fabulous Adina of Simply Adina Floral Design and relaxing tunes provided by Tim of Disc Go Round. Guests were not only treated to dessert, but also to cake and a full candy buffet! And if the sugary treats weren’t enough, guests could play Rock Band in the next room. I absolutely love it when couples include pieces of themselves in their wedding celebration!

This post of Joanna and Jeff’s amazing wedding at Rancho Valencia is so long over due! Let me start by saying that working with Joanna and Jeff was an absolute pleasure. We had a lot of fun planning and things went so smoothly - both before and during! The ceremony was held outdoors on the Croquet Lawn and the reception was tucked away in La Sala. Adina of Simply Adina Floral Design created one of the most beautiful bridal bouquets I have ever seen. Joanna and Jeff incorporated gorgeous table linens, an espresso bar and delicious cupcakes from Silver Cup Bakery to treat their guests to a celebration they’d remember for quite some time.

We are excited to share that Behind the Bride was recognized as a 2009 Bride’s Choice Award winner on WeddingWire. From the WeddingWire website: “In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors wedding vendors from the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.”
A huge thank you to our clients who took the time to post a review!

We are back from a much needed Hawaiian getaway! Even though I’m blessed to live in beautiful San Diego, I certainly understand the appeal of Hawaii. If anyone is considering a Hawaiian destination wedding, we will most definitely travel!

On September 20, 2008 Marianna and Essam were married at the newly renovated Coronado Island Marriott. Everything was black, white and fuschia - and absolutely stunning! The linens, florals, stationery, lighting and details were all color coordinated and gorgeous. Phil and his crew from Party Quake kept the guests on the dance floor well into the evening.
I felt right at home and like family for this very large 350 guest wedding - Marianna, you’re a trooper!
