January Bridal Bazaar Booth

Happy 2012! Clearly our blog took a backseat to our clients, Facebook and the newest little member of the BTB team in 2011. We kicked off 2012 with a booth at the Bridal Bazaar held at the San Diego Convention Center on the 29th. Our table scape design was inspired by a fabric print, which we ended up using as the runner. The palette was made up of coral, orange, grey and ivory and we borrowed the perfect table settings to tie it all together.

We LOVE to see some of our favorite vendors and meet eager brides and grooms ready to dive into planning beautiful ceremonies and the awesome parties that follow! Guests’ Dietary Needs

For people with food allergies and sensitivities, eating out can be a pain. It is getting easier as society becomes more aware of dietary restrictions and restaurants create special menus, but its still no walk in the park. Allergens can be found in the foods you least suspect. The good news is that with the proper planning, all of your guests can enjoy the deliciousness that you are serving up!

While it is certainly not necessary for you to ask guests about dietary restrictions, it is important to take such requests into account once you have been made aware. Most chefs are more than happy to make meals to accommodate your guests. Often times, it’s as easy as offering a vegetarian option or leaving off or substituting a sauce or side. Rarely do these exceptions count against you if you are offering multiple meal options for your guests; they are often made in addition to those selections as they are a modified version of the same thing.

If you have never personally dealt with dietary restrictions, consider yourself lucky! Know that many people with restrictions are not simply being picky, it is often a matter of their health. Bottom line: since accommodating your guests is most often very easy to do, there’s no reason not to!

A Mad Hatter Tea Party Inspired Bridal Shower

We had the pleasure of assisting the sister of one of our brides in planning a Mad Hatter tea party inspired bridal shower this past weekend. It was a blast! The invitations requested that the ladies wear white for the afternoon croquet match. The beautifully landscaped backyard garden was complete with lawn flamingos, hedgehogs and brightly colored lanterns overhead. We used a hodgepodge of china and place settings along with linen napkins in numerous patterns and flower filled teapots and pitchers to decorate the long banquet table. The ladies nibbled on appetizers and tea sandwiches catered by Bristol Farms and then enjoyed red velvet cupcakes from Batter Up! Cupcakes and mini French tarts.

Vegas Wedding? I think so!

This weekend I’m tagging along while my husband geeks out at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. As I sit here in our swanky Planet Hollywood Towers suite, I see the appeal of a Vegas wedding. Not the stereotypical Vegas wedding, but something classy and full of celebration. I envision several days of festivities where family and friends come together to eat great food, see a show, relax poolside and share time with the bride and groom. I would be thrilled to help plan something like this! We often assist clients having their destination wedding in San Diego with activities for out-of-towners, but there’s something about Vegas that sounds wildly exciting. The possibilities seem endless!
